To inherit the blessings promised to his chosen people
Land and Prosperity
God promised to give the Israelites the land of Canaan, which was described as a "land flowing with milk and honey" (Exodus 3:17). This promise included not only possession of the land but also prosperity and abundance in terms of agriculture, trade, and commerce.
Protection and Victory
God promised to protect the Israelites from their enemies and give them military victory. In Deuteronomy 28:7, God promised that "The LORD will cause your enemies who rise against you to be defeated before your face; they shall come out against you one way and flee before you seven ways."
Divine Presence
God promised to dwell among the Israelites and guide them in all their ways. In Exodus 33:14, God said to Moses, "My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest." This promise of divine guidance and protection was a central aspect of Israelite faith and identity.
